Prototype Manufacture

It is usually wise, before making a tool, that the product or part is tested for suitability first, to ensure fit and function. Once a prototype is produced, it can be inspected to make sure that it is completely correct and fulfils the design brief.

There may also be other reasons, for example:

• Samples for sales people to pre-sell to the market
• Prototypes to take to exhibitions etc.

Fit and function prototypes are recommended in most cases.
